- 180 gr all-purpose flour (1 1/2 cup)
- 60 gr cocoa powder (1/2 cup)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 200 gr sugar (1 cup)
- 2 large eggs
- 120 ml milk (1/2 cup)
- 120 ml vegetable oil (1/2 cup)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 240 ml boiling water (1 cup)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Carefully stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin; this is normal. Pour evenly into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Notes
For a richer flavor, substitute some water with brewed coffee or fold in chocolate chips/nuts for added texture.
